Generating Your First Report

This article provides an overview of generating your first report and covers the step by step process for configuring your Bill of Materials (BOM), completing the Demand Model, and completing each step in your Report.

Before you begin creating your first report, it is important to gather essential information and understand the values needed to successfully complete and generate your report.

To generate a report with meaningful values, input the unit cost for each line item in your BOM. These costs will be used to create detailed projected cost breakdowns in your analysis, including metrics such as revenue, costs, NPV, IRR, and ROI.  Configuring your BOM not only provides the necessary metrics for a financial report but also offers a detailed cost breakdown for each address included in your report.

Completing the Demand Model is also vital for an accurate Financial Planner report. It ensures the appropriate allocation of fiber based on each address type. This allows you to specify the Average Revenue Per User, the take rate, and the horizon value for each address type as outlined in the demand model.

Let's Create Your First Report

To begin the report creation process, click on the blue 'New' button located in the top right corner of your dashboard. From the drop-down menu, select 'Report'. This will prompt various settings to appear, starting with the Report Name. Provide a title for your report, include an optional description, and proceed to choose the planner project and version that suits your needs.

Following that, you will be required to specify your planning period and measurement timeframe, choose a starting date, and set your discount rate. The discount rate accounts for inflation and should be taken into consideration during this process.

Subscriber Revenue

Once you have provided the overview details, it is important to fill in the ARPU, minimum and maximum take rates, and the horizon value for each address type. Ensure that the address types listed here align with those defined in your demand model. The horizon value, which represents the value of maintaining the subscriber's revenue stream beyond the Planning Period, will be discounted by the discount rate to the start date. This is also referred to as "Terminal Value" or "Residual Value".

Resource Allocation

The next step in the report generation process is to determine your network deployment rate. Select from options such as fiber, linear path, service locations, or total cash budget per month as your expansion rate. You need at least one of these four items in order to successfully generate your report. Once you have filled out all the necessary sections, proceed to click on 'Generate Report.'

Exporting and Sharing

Once you've finished creating your report, feel free to share your project with colleagues or other stakeholders involved in the project!
