Tour of FOND

A quick tour of the FOND home page, projects, map and settings.

New to FOND? This tour shows you around the main areas you’ll use, whichever FOND product you work with.

FOND landing pages

When you log in, you land on the home page of your most recently accessed FOND workspace. From here you can find, create and organize your work.

  • Your home page displays details about your current subscription (for workspace administrators only), provides quick links to create new content, and provides a summary of your recently viewed items.
  • The projects page holds your team’s projects and folders.
  • The search page allows you to search for any FOND content that you have access to within the workspace.

 Inside a project

Every FOND project has a map at its center, surrounded by panels you can resize, move and show or hide. The menu bar at the top gives you access to:

  • Project: settings, sharing, copying, moving and renaming the project
  • View: the map’s appearance and the layout of the panels
  • Attachments: the bill of materials (BOM) and supporting files
  • Help: the Help Center and the support team

Planner and design projects also have a design tool panel. It walks you through each stage of the work in order: bringing in your input data, preparing it, then generating and refining your plan or design. The exact steps depend on the product.

Projects are saved as a series of versions, so you can try different scenarios and compare them. You can also attach files, such as permits or reference documents, and tag them with the version they relate to.

The map

The map is where you review your input data and your network. Most map tools work the same way in every FOND product:

  • Legend: Turn layers on and off, expand grouped layers (for example, hubs by tier), and check the feature count or total length for each layer.
  • Zoom and pan: Move in and out and around the map using the buttons or your mouse.
  • Change base map: Switch between Satellite, Road, and Hybrid imagery.
  • Feature pop-up: Click any feature to see its attributes. Where several features overlap, you can choose from a searchable list.
  • Measure: Use the ruler to measure distances. A scale bar is always shown at the bottom of the map.
  • Capture coordinates: Coordinates are always shown at the bottom of the map. Click on the map to freeze the coordinates for a few seconds so that they can be copied.
  • Search: Search for a location (by city, street, or address) or coordinates, and have the map move to the selected location
  • Switch project versions: Change between saved versions of the project.
  • Street view: Activate street view to draw a directional line and open street view imagery in a new tab.

Sharing and collaborating

Share a project or folder with colleagues, delivery partners or customers, and choose what each person can do. Anyone you share with can inspect the project on the map and add comments to discuss it.

Settings and administration

Your profile menu, at the top right, holds your account settings and the option to log out. Workspace administrators can also manage users and licenses, subscriptions, premises usage (Insights), the workspace logo, and default settings for new projects.
